How to Play Hearts Deluxe

Every deal is a quiet battle of reads and restraint — knowing when to duck a trick and when to let someone else carry the Queen of Spades is what makes Hearts endlessly satisfying. This is for card players who want a polished, replayable version of a genuine classic with room to grow as they get better.

Launch the game and choose your preferred difficulty for the AI opponents
Pick a game mode — standard Hearts, Hooligans Mode, or Omnibus Mode
Play cards each round, aiming to avoid taking Hearts or the Queen of Spades
Watch the running scores after each hand to adjust your strategy
Keep playing until someone hits the point threshold and a winner is decided

Controls

The controls are designed to stay out of your way — select and play cards cleanly without wrestling the interface.

Scoring

Points are penalties: each Heart taken scores one point against you, and the Queen of Spades scores thirteen. The player with the lowest total when the game ends wins.

When does a round end?

A round ends when a player reaches the agreed score limit, and whoever has the fewest points at that moment takes the win.

Tips & Tricks

Pass your highest Spades in the opening exchange — holding low Spades early is your best insurance against inheriting the Queen
If you have a strong hand of Hearts, consider shooting the moon, but only commit once you are confident you can take every single penalty card
In Omnibus Mode, learn what the bonus card is and factor it into your passing and leading decisions from the first trick
Watch which cards opponents pass you before assuming a suit is safe — a void in a suit is often a signal, not an accident
